APRIL 2010 Vol 6, Mth 04: March wind is a jolly fellow; He likes to joke and play. He turns umbrellas inside out and blows men's hats away. He calls the pussy willows and whispers in each ear, "Wake up you lazy little seeds, don't you know that spring is here.” April Showers bring Mayflowers! Spring is officially here. Temperature is rising, shake the winter cobwebs off and get out and enjoy the fresh air. Take your loved ones to a park and go for a walk.

WORKPLACE JOKE

"If you're going to work here young man, " said the boss, "the number two thing you must learn is that we are very keen on cleanliness in this firm." "Did you wipe your feet on the mat as you came in?" "Oh, yes, sir." responded the young man. "And another thing the number one thing we are very keen on is truthfulness. There is no mat,” said the boss.

SPRING SAFETY

  • Spring Allergies – Many people with seasonal allergies have problems in the spring, with a runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, etc. Learn how to help control your allergy by consulting your physician.
  • Water Safety – With the snow melting, the water levels are raising. Keep young children away from rivers and creeks, to avoid problems.
  • Insects Repellents – Insects repellents can protect you and your children from insects that commonly bite, including mosquitoes, gnats, chiggers etc. Safe and effective repellents include those with deet, citronella and soybean oil. Learn to keep yourself safe from bites.
  • Spring Cleaning - Test all your smoke alarms to ensure they are working. Change the batteries at least once every year. Most smoke alarms also need "spring cleaning" maintenance - check your manual.
  • Choose non-toxic fertilizers, insecticides and gardening supplies.
  • When washing the car, clean the car safety seat as well - sticky snacks, crumbs, and drinks can interfere with the crotch buckle and chest clip. Use the instructions to find out how to remove the cover and clean these parts. Take the time to weigh and measure your children to make sure they still fit in the seat. Check that the shoulder straps are the right height. Be sure the seat is installed securely.
